Feeling like the anxiety is in more control than you are?
From the outside looking in, no one would be able to tell you're anxious.
You're used to being in control, to making things happen, and life seems to be going well.
Yet every day it seems like the anxiety creeps in and ruins what was supposed to be a great day.
Your mind is racing, you get overwhelmed more easily, and some days you completely check out because the stress is too much.
Of course you want to feel better, but you're just not sure where to start.
Therapy for High-Functioning Adults in Charlotte
Many of the people I work with appear to have their lives together. They're responsible, capable, successful in their careers, and often the ones others depend on.
Internally, it can be a different picture: anxiety, self-doubt, perfectionism, emotional exhaustion, or a quiet sense of dissatisfaction. You may have trouble relaxing, feel responsible for everyone else's needs, or keep asking yourself whether you're doing enough.
Some people have reached the things they thought would make them happy, and something still feels missing.
What makes this hard is that the people around you often don't realize you're struggling. And sometimes, when you've become so accustomed to pushing through, it's difficult to recognize how much it's affecting you.
Why Anxiety Is Hard to Turn Off
Anxiety starts to take over when we get stuck living in the past or the future.
We start thinking constantly about conflicts at work, our business, family members, health or money. When those fearful thoughts keep coming, the body goes into a state of survival. Once that's switched on, it can be difficult to turn off, and you end up in a constant state of tension.
I know how frustrating it can be when it feels like you're in a combative state with your thoughts and the stress that shows up in your body. From the moment you wake up until the time you fall asleep, it's a constant buzz.
How I Can Help
Therapy isn't only a place to vent, although having space to feel heard matters. I'm curious about what's happening underneath the surface: why you respond the way you do, how your patterns developed, and what may be keeping you stuck.
Together we slow things down and look at the expectations you place on yourself. We explore the patterns that may no longer be serving you, and work toward a healthier relationship with yourself and the people around you.
My style is warm, conversational, curious, and direct when needed. I ask questions, offer observations, and help you consider perspectives you may not have thought about before. Every person is different, and there's no formula that works for everyone.
If you're ready to stop carrying this on your own, let's talk.

Social Anxiety Therapy in Charlotte
For some people, the anxiety shows up most around other people. You worry about saying or doing something embarrassing, or about being rejected. You might have thoughts like "Everyone is staring at me, waiting for me to mess up," or "What's wrong with me?" After a social event, you replay everything you said.
Therapy is a space to understand your triggers, build confidence and feel more at ease with people.
When Anxiety Shows Up in Your Relationships
When you're used to managing everything, it can be hard to be vulnerable or to ask for what you need. That often shows up in our closest relationships first. If anxiety is affecting your relationship, couples counseling may also help.
Brainspotting for Anxiety
Sometimes you understand exactly why you feel or react a certain way, and your emotional or physical response still doesn't change. Brainspotting uses eye position and focused attention to help process difficult experiences, paying attention to both emotions and physical sensations. It can help when talking alone doesn't seem to be enough. I'm certified in Brainspotting and use it when it fits, depending on your needs and comfort level.

Most of my work happens in person at my SouthPark office. There's something meaningful about having a dedicated space, away from everyday distractions, where you can focus entirely on yourself.
Online sessions run on SimplePractice, a secure telehealth platform, anywhere in North Carolina and South Carolina. They can be a good fit if you have a demanding schedule, travel often, or would simply rather meet from home or your office.
Hi, I’m Courtenay!
I've always been curious about people: what motivates them, how they think, and why they respond the way they do. I believe meaningful change often begins when we understand ourselves a little better.
My goal is to help you feel more confident in yourself, more connected in your relationships, and better equipped to handle whatever brings you to therapy.
There is no shame in reaching out. It can be the first step toward feeling more capable and calm.

A Personalized, Collaborative Approach.
Therapy isn't one-size-fits-all. I take time to understand each client's experiences, relationships, and goals.

Looking Beyond the Surface.
Rather than focusing only on symptoms, I help clients recognize underlying patterns and better understand their emotional responses.
03
Warm, Engaged, and Direct.
I believe therapy should feel comfortable and supportive, but I also believe meaningful change sometimes involves challenging familiar ways of thinking.
04
In-Person and Virtual Sessions.
